Today we’re going to explain what the bonus number is – one of the main questions our customers have.
So far this year, La Primitiva has seen jackpot figures like never before, with the biggest jackpot in its history being won last Monday, 16 March: €126,105,042.95
Over the past few weeks, at Lotería la Piedad we have paid out several 5+C prizes in La Primitiva.
€30,182.78 on 12 March 2026
€42,582.78 on 28 February 2026
€42,693.05 on 16 February 2026
But what is 5+C or the complementary number?
Firstly, it should be noted that 5+C is a prize category that currently only features in the La Primitiva and La Bonoloto games.
In these games, La Primitiva and La Bonoloto, the top prize is won by matching 6 numbers out of 49, which are drawn by selecting 6 balls from a drum containing a total of 49 balls numbered from 1 to 49.
Once the first prize has been won, following the combination of those first 6 balls drawn from the drum, a seventh ball is drawn. It is the number on that seventh ball that determines the bonus number.
However, matching the bonus number does not guarantee a prize. For the bonus number to increase your prize, you must match 5 of the 6 numbers in the first prize.
That is why this category is called 5+C: 5 correct numbers out of 6 plus the bonus number.
We can therefore define 5+C as a prize category for the La Primitiva and La Bonoloto games. Specifically, it is the second-tier prize for both games.
We hope this explanation helps you to understand this prize category, which has brought so much joy to us at Lotería la Piedad, but above all to the 5+C winners.
